Respite with Tea-cup Cottage
Respite care – also known as short-term accommodation – gives people with disability and their carers a break from the daily routine. It can range from a few hours to a couple of weeks; the NDIS defines short-term respite as up to two weeks, and medium-term as anything beyond that.
Depending on your NDIS plan, funding may be available under Core Supports – Assistance with Daily Life (Short Term Accommodation and Assistance).
Taking a break isn’t always easy, especially when caring for a child or young adult with disability – but time out is good for both of you. It gives carers space to rest and recharge, and gives your loved one a safe environment to try new experiences.
